Bnamericas
Brazil's Paraná state integrated power company Copel (NYSE: ELP) and Canadian company Hydro-Quebec have started talks on creating generation and transmission joint ventures, Canal Energía news service reported. The Canadian company will send representatives to visit Copel in coming weeks. The JVs would reportedly include the construction of a hydroelectric plant on the Iguaçu river. Copel has an installed generation capacity of 5,004MW and 6,977km of transmission lines, and is one of the few utilities not to have separated its generation, transmission and distribution operations.
