Corp Banca boosts profits 43.2% in H1

Bnamericas
Chilean bank Corp Banca boosted first half profits 43.2% to 24.3bn pesos (US$35mn), compared to the same year-ago period, the bank said in a statement. The strong result was mainly due to a 6.92bn-peso increase in the bank's gross margin. Corp Banca's efficiency ratio came in at 37.6% as of end-June. The bank's risk ratio stood at 1.81% at the end of the first half. Corpbanca is a medium-sized bank that has been one of the most aggressive banks in the consumer-lending segment this year. It is controlled by local group Corp Group, which also runs Venezuelan bank Corp Banca Venezuela.
