Customers seen mixing mobile carriers

Mobile operators in Barbados can expect corporate clients to start using multiple operators, AT&T Wireless country manager Kim Whitehead told local daily the Barbados Advocate. "I think you will see a bit of a shift from businesses here giving all of their business to just one [mobile service provider], to maybe having a mixture within their company," she was reported as saying. "What I have experienced, in the US, is that corporations there really don't go with one carrier, they go with multiple carriers, because then it puts them in a much better negotiating position." AT&T Wireless is focusing on providing mobile accessibility and data services to support its traditional voice business. Individual clients also have started to exhibit this behavior, according to Whitehead. "What you find is more the phenomenon of people having multiple phones from multiple carriers, more so than in the old TDMA world," she said.
