DNIT extends BR-101 hwy. services bidding timetable

Brazil's national transport infrastructure department (DNIT) has extended the bidding timetables for works supervisory and environment management contracts for highway BR-101, according to information on DNIT's website. The contracts relate to a project to double capacity on a stretch of the federal highway, and are the last step in the lead up to the start of works on the 343km stretch that runs from Palhoça (Santa Catarina state) to Osório (Rio Grande do Sul). The supervisory contract is worth 120mn reais (US$39.6mn) and is broken into four lots, each of which will run close to three years; while the four-year environmental management contract is worth some 20mn reais. Offer submission dates were extended to September 28 and 27, respectively, from September 14 and 13. Winners of nine lots to carry out works on 249km of the Santa Catarina portion include Ivai Engenharia de Obras, Construcap, Queiroz Galvao and DM Construtora, either individually or in consortium. Winners for four lots totaling 94km in Rio Grande do Sul include - individually or in consortium - Ferreira Guedes, Construcap, Servicos Gerais de Engenharia and Somague. Bids for the Santa Catarina works total 1.04bn reais and 152mn reais for the Rio Grande do Sul works. The Inter-American Development Bank and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation are providing financing.
