Delta to sell Talca-Chillan hwy. stake

Chilean construction company Delta plans to sell by year-end or early next year its 34% stake in the Talca-Chillan highway concession, Diario Financiero quoted company president Hector Henriquez as saying. "The idea was to sell the shares once construction was complete, but the drop in traffic these past few years has prevented us from selling," said Henriquez, adding that the sale of their stake would begin once a minimum toll insurance policy is signed with the public works ministry. The ministry awarded special purpose company Talca Chillan Sociedad Concesionaria an 11.5-year operation and maintenance concession for a 193km stretch of the Pan-American Highway (Ruta 5), which connects Region VII capital Talca and Region VIII city Chillan, in 1996.
