Emae, Cemar 2004 results roundup

Brazilian power company Emae posted net profits of 9.18mn reais (US$3.4mn) in 2004 compared to a loss of 25.3mn reais a year earlier, Agência Estado news service reported. Net operational revenue rose 10.1% to 240mn reais and operating profits were 16.5mn reais compared to a loss of 19.8mn reais in 2003. Emae is controlled by the São Paulo state government. *** Brazilian power distributor Cemar posted a loss of 31.1mn reais in 2004 compared to a 53mn real-loss in 2003, the same news service reported. Cemar distributes power in the northeastern state of Maranhão.
