Energy secretary: More flexible energy laws needed

Bnamericas
Mexico needs more flexible energy sector laws to allow the country to take advantage of its natural resources, energy secretary Fernando Elizondo said, according to a statement from state oil company Pemex. At an August 6 meeting with Pemex director Raúl Muñoz and members of the Burgos basin special commission for the chamber of deputies, Elizondo proposed that the various levels of government work together in analyzing initiatives that will promote the country's energy sector. Eight times more natural gas is produced and 17 times more wells are drilled in southern Texas than in Mexico's Burgos basin, which is just over the border and shares similar geology, Elizondo said.
