Entre Ríos seeks fed. funds for US$27mn aqueduct

Bnamericas
Argentine senator Oscar Herdt from Entre Ríos province has asked President Néstor Kirchner about the possibility of the federal government helping finance an 80mn-peso (US$27mn) aqueduct project, the provincial government reported. The project, dubbed "Acueducto del Oeste Entrerriano," would benefit 100,000 residents in the provincial departments of Paraná, Diamante, Nogoyá and La Paz with continuous drinking water supply. Herdt said wells in these areas currently provide residents with "hard water," which is high in dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium, and although not a health risk, causes mineral buildup in pipes. The aqueduct would stretch 180-200km and includes plans to pull water from the Paraná river and treatment plants.
