Feb. generation increases 3% year-on-year

Power generation in Chile in February 2005 increased 3% from the same month of 2004 to 3,934GWh, according to data from statistics institute INE. Hydro generation increased 12.4% from February 2004 to 1,736GWh, combined cycle generation fell 13.7% to 828GWh and generation from other thermoelectric plants increased 4.1% to 1,370GWh. The 2,838GWh generated in the central grid (SIC) represented 72.1% of the total, the northern grid (SING) generated 862GWh (21.9%) and the remainder came from isolated systems and self-suppliers. The amount of power distributed in February 2005 increased 2.7% from the same month of 2004, although it fell 6.6% from January 2005.
