Gitennes intersects gold, silver at Urumalqui

Vancouver-based Gitennes Exploration (TSX: GIT) reported results from the first nine holes at its joint venture Urumalqui gold-silver project in northwest Peru's La Libertad department. Highlights include 7.55m grading 1.55g/t gold and 119g/t silver, 6.6m grading 4.58g/t gold and 196g/t silver, and 13.2m grading 2.19g/t gold and 212g/t silver, all on the property's main epithermal Urumalqui Vein. Drilling intersected the vein along 1km of strike length and at depths ranging from 25m to 120m below surface, Gitennes said in a statement. The results from a tenth hole on the main Urumalqui vein and three on other geophysical targets are still pending. The same drilling also identified an envelope of lower grade gold mineralization along both sides of the Urumalqui Vein that Gitennes described as a "noteworthy geological feature." Assays included 30.1m grading 0.51g/t gold, 20.6m grading 0.66g/t gold and 18.7m at 1.47g/t gold, using a lower cut-off point of 0.1g/t gold. Additional drilling, including both step-out and undercutting holes, is planned at Urumalqui in December. Urumalqui is a 50:50 JV with fellow Canadian miner Meridian Gold (NYSE: MDG).
