Gitennes updates exploration activities

Vancouver-based Gitennes Exploration (TSX: GIT) reported that the first phase 13-hole core drill program at its Urumalqui gold-silver project in northwest Peru's La Libertad department is 75% complete. The company is considering an extension to the 1,500m drill program and expects fieldwork to continue into December, Gitennes said in a statement. Drilling is testing the main Urumalqui Principal vein and a couple of nearby geophysical targets, Gitennes previously said. Urumalqui Principal has been traced over a continuous distance of 1,700m of which samples on a 1,000m segment have returned an average grade of 3.9g/t gold and 129g/t silver over an average exposed width of 3m. Urumalqui is a 50:50 joint venture with Canada's Meridian Gold (NYSE: MDG). Gitennes also announced that a reverse circulation drill program is scheduled to start this week at its Rio Seco gold project, also in Peru. The company plans 8 to ten holes to see if the grade of the target, which ranges from 200ppb to 1,600ppb gold at surface, increases below the effects of surface leaching and oxidation, it said.
