Higher slab prices in China benefit exporters

Bnamericas
Higher steel slab prices in China are benefiting Brazilian exporters of the unfinished steel to the Asian market, AE-Setorial news service reported. Close to two-thirds of the exports to the Chinese market totaling 1.55Mt consist of semi-finished steel such as slabs. Prices have hit US$330/t for steel slabs in the Asian country, fueled by strong demand. Brazil's main slab exporters include Vitoria, Espirito Santo-based CST, Rio de Janeiro-based CSN (NYSE: RIO) and Sao Paulo-based Cosipa.
