Houston American to start Caracara drilling

US energy company Houston American Energy will start drilling the first of its three-well drilling program in the Caracara field of the Llanos basin in Colombia by the end of the month, the company said in a statement Wednesday. The first well will be the Caracara 1, a step-out to the Cormoran 1 well, which is on the Caracara association contract. The next well to be drilled will be the Jaguar 2, an offset to the Jaguar 1 discovery, and the third well will be the Bengala 1, the statement said. All three wells will be drilled to a total depth of 5,500 feet, and are located within the Caracara association contract and within the area of the company's 3D seismic data shoot completed earlier this year, the statement added.
