ISPs, marketers join forces to fight spam

Chile's internet media association (Ami), internet service providers' (ISPs) association (Api) and direct marketing association have joined forces to combat unwanted email, or spam, Ami said in a statement. They will launch an online campaign to "create consciousness of the damage that [spam] provokes, both for providers and users," Ami said. Legitimate e-mail marketing campaigns have been scarred by association with illegitimate e-mail campaigns, the statement said. Chile's existent anti-spam legislation is in the midst of a reform, according to the statement, with no further details.
