Judge charges 4 more in Inverlink scandal

Bnamericas
Chilean judge Patricio Villarroel has charged four former executives of local intervened financial group Inverlink for their alleged part in espionage against the central bank, local daily La Tercera reported. The four are: Pablo Schaffhauser, former executive of Inverlink's stock brokerage unit, Carlos Berrios, the unit's former treasurer, Inverlink's ex-accountant Carlos Rubilar and the financial group's former head of human resources Monica Bahamondes. The names of the executives are added to those of two previous suspects charged as part of the ongoing investigation into the Inverlink scandal: the group's former CEO Enzo Bertinelli and former central bank secretary Pamela Andrada. Chile's financial industry was rocked in late January when it was discovered that Andrada, the secretary of then-central bank chairman Carlos Massad, had been sending confidential e-mails covering all aspects of the financial system from Massad's computer to Bertinelli. The group's former chairman, Eduardo Monasterio, has also confessed to organizing the theft of US$95mn in CDs from development agency Corfo.
