LatAm aluminum output up 3.09% in July

Latin America produced 200,000t of aluminum in July, up 3.09% from 196,000t in same-month 2003 and 4.71% higher than 191,000t produced in June 2004, according to figures published by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI). The figures cover production in Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Mexico, the London-based IAI said. In the first seven months of the year, Latin America produced 1.36Mt of aluminum, 1.49% up on 1.34Mt for same-period 2003, the figures show. Worldwide production stood at 1.90Mt in July 2004, a 3.20% increase on 1.84Mt in the same month last year, and 13.2Mt in the first seven months of the year, 4.14% up on same-period 2003.
