Local consortium signs US$10mn Chesf automation contract

A consortium of Brazilian companies Altus, Hytonic and Reivax signed Monday a US$10mn contract with federally owned generator Chesf to supply the automation system for the 1,560MW Paulo Afonso hydro plant in Bahia state, Altus said in a statement. "This is the first time a domestic consortium has won a project of this size," newspaper Gazeta Mercantil reported Altus president Ricardo Felizzola as saying. "Before only multinationals got them." The contract has to be completed within four years.
