Bnamericas Published: Friday, July 04, 2003
Panama's public works ministry will invest a total US$9.5mn on inspection, repairs and maintenance of the Agua Fria Nº1-Meteti highway in eastern Darien province. Construction company Ingenieria de Vias will head-up construction works on the 52km stretch. Meanwhile the MOP awarded another local firm, Ingenieros Geotecnicos, a US$333,000 contract for inspection and supervision of the works. Ingenieria's contract also includes repairs to the 18km Meteti-Puerto Quimba stretch. The works are part of a US$143mn project to repair and repave the Pan-American highway to be financed by the national trust fund and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), BNamericas previously reported. Darien province has some 40,000 residents.
