Manaus environ program consultancy tenders draw 22

Twenty-two expressions of interest have been submitted to Brazil's Amazonas state infrastructure department for consultancy contracts that fall under an environmental and social recovery program for state capital Manaus. The first contract entails drafting the works' executive projects, while the second involves providing program management and supervisory services, a department tender official told BNamericas. Once a review of documents has been completed, which is expected to wrap up by mid-May, companies that meet contract requirements will be invited to submit offers, said the official. Company names were not released. The program aims to resolve the environmental and social problems affecting residents of the Educandos-Quarenta basin by improving and installing drainage, potable water supply, wastewater and solid waste collection and disposal systems. Amazonas is in negotiations with the Inter-American Development Bank to secure US$140mn in financing for the five-year program.
