Ministers to discuss IIRSA finance

Bnamericas
Peru's minister of transport and communications José Ortiz Rivera has traveled to Brasília to coordinate details concerning the financing of a transoceanic highway linking Peru, Brazil and Bolivia, according to a ministry release. The project would link southern Peru with Acre and Rondônia states in Brazil and Pando and Beni departments in Bolivia and allow the development of production channels that would boost the commercial prospects of the area. The minister will meet with counterparts until September 15 to advance the project following an agreement reached by the presidents of the three countries August 11. The minister is traveling with president of the national decentralization council, Luis Thais; deputy finance minister, Fernando Zavala; and the executive director of investment promotion agency ProInversion, René Cornejo. The route forms one of the IIRSA regional integration projects and would serve 12.3 million people according to IIRSA.
