Ministry frees US$43.2mn for Paraná roads

Brazil's transport ministry has freed 115mn reais (US$43.2mn) for Paraná state road construction, rehabilitation and conservation, the state government reported. The funds, which come from Cide fuel tax proceeds, will go toward Paraná plans to invest 300mn reais in 2005 on its highway network. The state's transit department Detran and the World Bank also will provide funds. Projects to be financed will include the recovery of the Wenceslau Brás-Siqueira Campos stretch and the paving of the Rio Branco do Sul-Cerro Azul stretch, both on state highway PR-092. Governor Roberto Requião has said he will hand over 95% of the state's highways in a completely rehabilitated state to the next administration.
