Nov. demand increases 4.42% yr-on-yr

November power demand in El Salvador increased 4.42% to 359GWh compared to the same month in 2002, according to data from wholesale market administrator Unidad de Transacciones (UT). Demand decreased 3.95% from October 2003. November generation increased 14.8% to 336GWh compared to 306GWh in November 2002. Thermo power during November accounted for 41.5% of power dispatched to the grid, hydro power 34.7% and geothermal 23.8%. The main generator in November was state power company CEL with 117GWh, followed by Nejapa Power with 76.1GWh and Duke Energy with 58.9GWh. Imports during November were 33.5GWh, down 29.2% from 47.3GWh in November 2002.
