Officials to move ahead with US$7.5mn regional aqueduct

Bnamericas
Officials from Colombia's Atlántico department will move ahead with a planned 18bn-peso (US$7.5mn) regional aqueduct, local newspaper El Heraldo reported. The national environment ministry will invest 6bn pesos, leaving the department to make up the rest, according to Atlántico governor Carlos Rodado. The aqueduct will serve the small coastal municipalities of Juan de Acosta, Piojo, and Tubará in order to improve water services in the area and boost the growing tourism industry. Earlier this year, Colombia's economic and social policy council Conpes and Atlántico department approved 180bn pesos in sewerage-related works for capital city Barranquilla and smaller coastal cities.
