Ormat to start new geotherm plant ops by Jan

The Guatemalan subsidiary of Israeli geothermal power company Ormat Industries plans to start operations of a new 20-25MW plant in Guatemala by January, Ormat VP Yossi Shilon said. More than US$60mn has been invested in the two-year project, newspaper Prensa Libre quoted Shilon as saying. The plant is in the municipality of San Vicente Pacaya, Escuintla department. Ormat has another plant in Zunil, Quetzaltenango department generating some 20MW.
