Parnaiba irrigation project P1 ready end-Nov.

First phase construction of the Tabuleiros Litoreneos irrigation project in the Brazilian municipality of Parnaiba, Piaui state, will finish end-November, and be inaugurated in December, the federal integration ministry reported. The ministry's national drought mitigation works department DNOCS is the executing agency for the project, into which some 51.5mn reais (US$17.5mn) have been invested in the past few years. This first phase will irrigate 2,457ha. Some 31,000 resident will benefit. In related news, the ministry announced the disbursement of 6.3mn reais out of a total of 9.8mn reais that will go towards first phase completion of the Propertins irrigation project in Tocantins state municipality Dianopolis.
