Petropolis to receive natgas 1Q04

The town of Petropolis in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro state will start receiving natural gas in the first quarter next year, state electric power, naval industry and oil secretary Wagner Victer said in a statement Wednesday. Rio-based distributor CEG and the state government have teamed up to distribute gas to 8,000 residential clients and six service stations, and expect to attract more companies to locate in Petropolis. Investment in the 16.5km pipeline from Xerem to Petropolis and 25km of distribution infrastructure in the town is estimated at 32m reais (US$11.1mn).
