Pillar updates exploration work

Bnamericas
Vancouver-based Pillar Resources (TSX-V: PRI) updated its Nicaraguan exploration projects, options to which it acquired early this year from a local businessman. At the Kuikuinita gold prospect in northeast Nicaragua, Pillar said in a statement that it has expanded the soil grids and conducted hand trenching, adding the anomalous area now covers roughly 25 sq. km. Results from trenching at the Lomas Los Indios anomaly included 6.8m at 2.8g/t gold, 33.3m at 1.5g/t and 7.3m at 7.3g/t gold, the company said. Trenching, geological mapping and geophysical interpretation are ongoing and drill targets are being defined, Pillar said. At the Columbus copper-gold prospect, which like Kuikuinita is close to the "Golden Triangle" mining district, Pillar has carried out trenching, geological/alteration mapping and prospecting beyond the known mineralized area, extending the soil grid over recently discovered mineralization, it said. Trenching results include 2.1m at 1.4g/t gold and 13.8m at 2.2g/t, the company reported. Joint venture partners will be sought for this target, Pillar said. At the San Ramon project in south-central Nicaragua, an underground and surface sampling program has been conducted and results are pending before planning the next stage of the work program, Pillar said. And at San Albino, located in northwest Nicaragua close to the Honduran border, Pillar said it has expanded the grid and defined another strong linear anomaly extending for 2,000m. Regional stream geochemistry also returned strong gold anomalies over a broad area and work is ongoing, the statement said. Finally at Kisilala, 75km east of the producing La Libertad gold deposit in the Region Autonoma del Atlantico Sur, Pillar said it has mapped and trenched veins to test grade continuity along and across strike. Drill testing of the structures will be necessary to test the grades at depth, it added. The company is also planning work at the El Gallo and El Guayabo targets under the same option agreement, both in northeast Nicaragua.
