Bnamericas
Brazil's Pernambuco state planning department will invest 12mn reais (US$4mn) on drinking-water and sewerage works for 11 rural districts, the state government reported. The state's sustainable development program Promata will finance the works that will benefit close to 26,500 residents in the municipalities of Alianca, Tracunhaem and Vicencia. The Inter-American Development Bank approved a US$90mn loan in 2001 for the US$150mn, five-year Promata program, which is targeting rural communities of between 200 and 10,000 residents.
