Public works undersecretary Latorre resigns

Bnamericas
Chile's public works undersecretary Juan Carlos Latorre has resigned, after President Ricardo Lagos asked him to step down explaining that Latorre has met the stages that were relevant to him, the public works ministry said in a statement. Neither Latorre nor government authorities would not comment on versions that his departure was due to differences with minister Javier Etcheberry, in particular regarding the GATE-MOP corruption scandal. Clemente Perez, former director of national environment authority Conama, will replace Latorre, who held the post since 1999.
