Regulator says full penetration to cost US$22.5bn

Bnamericas
Mexican telecom operators would have to invest US$22.5bn to provide connections to the country's 15 million households that do not have telephones, El Universal reported, citing estimates from telecom regulator Cofetel. Since 700,000 houses are built in Mexico each year, the investment required to improve teledensity will keep rising. Cofetel based its calculation on the assumption that US$1,500 represents the average investment to install a telephone line.
