Taiwanese network solutions provider D-Link has appointed Douglas Brito as accounts manager for its Business Solutions unit in Brazil, the company said in a statement. "My initial objective will be to land new business opportunities for D-Link in the private sector with a focus on the education and health verticals," Brito said. Brito has worked for 14 years in the telecoms sector in companies including Cyclades, Brasil Telecom, Embratel and CTBC. *** Partners In Health (PIH) has selected the AMC-6 satellite of SES World Skies, a division of SES, to expand mission critical connectivity across Haiti, SES said in a statement. In the wake of the earthquake in January, PIH has increased its investment in medical teams and dedicated satellite capacity for Haiti. PIH doctors and nurses have relied on SES World Skies' NSS-806 satellite for broadband and videoconferencing capabilities at its hospital in the town of Cange. PIH works in 12 countries around the world to provide quality healthcare to people and communities devastated by poverty and disease. *** Mexico's telecoms regulator Cofetel and the government of Hidalgo state are the joint organizers of an aerospace and telecommunications fair (FIIAT) to be held on November 15-19 as part of the VI Americas space conference (CEA), Cofetel said in a statement. The FIATT is designed to help encourage investment, collaboration agreements and develop human resources in both industries.
