Samarco replaces president

Jose Tadeu de Moraes will take over from Jose Luciano Penido as president of Brazilian iron ore pellet producer Samarco, business daily Gazeta Mercantil reported. Moraes is Samarco's former head of operations and with 23 years at the company. Belo Horizonte-based Samarco produces some 12Mt/y of pellets and 1Mt/y of fines. The company is owned 50:50 by Rio de Janeiro-based mining group CVRD (NYSE: RIO) and Anglo-Australian resources giant BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP).
