Santo Domingo approves hospital waste regulations

Bnamericas
The Dominican Republic's capital Santo Domingo has approved regulations for the management of the city's hospital waste, Diario Libre reported. As part of the new regulations, all staff handling this type of waste will have to be trained and pass a test, while the local government will have to oversee these jobs, the paper said. Municipal authorities, public health and environment authorities will create a training entity. The regulations also dictate what type of material should be used to contain each type of waste and the form in which it is disposed of.
