Sedapal Q1 profits jump 38%

Bnamericas
Sedapal, the water and sewerage utility serving Peruvian capital Lima, has reported a 38.1% jump in net profits to 44.6mn soles (US$12.8mn) for the first quarter compared to the same period in 2003, Andina reported. Despite a 1.7% fall in sales to 164mn soles due to water rationing, lower costs boosted the company's financial performance. Costs fell by 9.4mn soles due to a change in policy regarding the late payment of users bills implemented at the start of this year.
