Telefonica installs Wi-Fi at McDonald's restaurants

Chilean telecoms operator Telefónica CTC Chile is installing wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) in the restaurants of fast food chain McDonald's, Telefonica said in a statement. To promote the service, it is being offered for free during the Chilean summer, which runs through to March. By mid-December, Telefonica expects to have installed its Speedy Wi-Fi service at six restaurants in capital city Santiago and in the cities of Arica and Puerto Montt. Telefonica said its global partners for Wi-Fi rollout are Intel and handheld computer manufacturer Palm.
