Telemar to issue US$300mn in 10-year notes

Brazilian telecoms company Tele Norte Leste Participacoes (NYSE: TNE), known as Telemar, plans to issue up to US$300mn in notes through a private placement with investors in the United States, the company said in a statement. The notes will be issued under Rule 144A of the US Securities Act, and will not therefore be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The resources will be used for general corporate purposes, Telemar said.
