Teradata to sign up 4 integrator partners by yr-end

US-based business software company Teradata plans to sign four integration partnerships by year-end to help grow its business in Brazil, Teradata Brazil country manager Paulo Pinho told BNamericas. Since entering the market in 1997, Teradata has been doing the software integration for its customers but now sees local partnerships as essential for building the business, he said. "You can't maintain a high growth rate through an in-house integrator team only," Pinho said. The partners will help Teradata ride the wave of "expressive growth" in demand for data storage and business intelligence software that it expects during 2004, he said. Teradata does not offer business intelligence solutions, but expects to profit from higher demand in this market because data storage is a prerequisite for implementing business intelligence solutions. A partnership between software development and integration would be mutually beneficial, as both would gain access to new customers and expand the range of products they are offering, he said. Teradata is a unit of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), which provides software for customer relationship management (CRM), data warehousing and e-business. NCR reported 1H03 revenues of US$1.37bn, while Teradata's data storage division billed US$300mn for the same period. NCR does not reveal revenues by region, but Pinho said that Teradata accounts for 25% of NCR's revenues in Brazil. Teradata has 15 data storage customers and two customers for its CRM software, Pinho said. In the e-business segment, Teradata has signed a contract with the country's largest private bank Bradesco to provide site traffic analysis software, he said. Teradata and IBM are the two major players in the Brazilian data storage market for large corporations, while Oracle dominates the small and mid-sized segment, according to Pinho.
