Termoesmeraldas tests new fuel

Ecuadorian thermoelectric power generator Termoesmeraldas has started tests using a new fuel composed of diesel and a viscosity reducing agent to replace dwindling stocks of fuel oil, newspaper El Universo reported. The plant started using a mixture of the two fuels in the middle of last week but will make a full switch to the new blend from Tuesday morning as stocks of fuel oil run out, according to plant CEO Jorge Goyes. The cost-cutting measure is also intended to increase production at the 132MW plant and so far tests are proceeding smoothly, he said.
