Uranium reserves rise

Brazil informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that its uranium reserves have increased by 150,000t, Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper reported. With total reserves now reaching 450,000t, Brazil holds the fourth largest reserves in the world. Uranium production at the Pitinga mine in Amazonas state is slated to begin in 2004.
