Usiminas sees annual demand growing 2.7%

The Brazilian flat steel market is expected to grow 2.7%/y between now and 2010, the president of Belo Horizonte-based steel company Usiminas, Rinaldo Campos Soares, told a seminar in the city, AE-Setorial news agency reported. Basing his estimate on the projected rate of growth in GDP, Campos Soares calculated that demand for steel would increase 2.3% for every percentage point rise in GDP.
