The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), headed by Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, reports that new provisions to strengthen civil aviation in the country come into effect today.
These measures were published in the Official Gazette of the Federation and are part of a technical-administrative agreement issued by the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), with the goal of fulfilling Mexico's international commitments as part of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, also known as the Chicago Convention.
The agreement establishes that signatory countries must work to unify and improve aviation-related regulations in order to make them safer and more efficient.
The new provisions include:
- Guidelines for accessibility in airports and air services for people with disabilities or reduced mobility.
- Air traffic rules on the use and certification of air navigation equipment in telecommunications.
- Standards for the medical evaluation of aeronautical technical personnel and those seeking a permit to perform these functions.
- Exceptions to the installation of flight data recorders (FDRS) on aircraft used for air taxi, complementing the previous regulation CO AV-022/22 R2.
In total, four sections were modified and one new one was added.
With this agreement, the SICT reaffirms its commitment to safe, modern, and inclusive aviation, benefiting all air transport users in Mexico.
