Mexico City, October 16, 2024.- The holding of the XXXVI International Mining Convention 2025 is a sign of the confidence that exists in our city due to its capacity to host events of global importance, declared the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado.

In a message sent to attendees at the press conference organized by the Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico (AIMMGM), in which the Convention to be held from November 18 to 21, 2025 was announced, the state leader reaffirmed the solid relationship that her government maintains with this industry.

"We have always counted on their support and the confirmation of the event is one of the best ways to show their loyalty and love for this beach destination," he said.

The president of AIMMGM, Rubén del Pozo Mendoza, explained that the National Board of Directors of the Association approved the selection of Acapulco as the venue for the twentieth time.

“The decision is the result of the solidarity of the mining industry with the people of Guerrero after the unfortunate passage of hurricanes Otis, in 2023, and John, this year, with the devastating effects that we all know; we are part of a great industry that generates wealth, but also has a great social responsibility,” he emphasized.

He noted that during 2024 and 2025 the mining-metallurgical industry will launch 10 pending gold and silver projects or expansions, the exploration stage of which was carried out during previous administrations.

Of these projects, seven are new, two for expansion and one for reactivation, in the states of: Durango, Jalisco, Sonora, Guerrero, Sinaloa, Zacatecas and the State of Mexico.

He said that the projects demonstrate, just like the people of Acapulco, that the mining sector is looking to the future: “We miners want to be certain about the execution of these projects that are a source of well-being for thousands of families. That is why we will continue to insist on the urgent need to reactivate the concessions and not prohibit open-pit mining.”

For his part, the General Coordinator of the International Mining Convention, Ricardo Moreno Trousselle, indicated that the event is conducive to the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of professional ties.

He noted that Acapulco is a city that has become the epicenter of mining in Mexico. "The event is much more than a meeting of experts; it is an opportunity to rebuild a more prosperous future for the state. Acapulco, like a phoenix, is rising from its challenges and is a sign of resilience and progress," he said.

Del Pozo Mendoza and Moreno Trousselle assured that all security guarantees will be provided for attendees.

"We have held a series of meetings with state and municipal government officials to ensure the safety of convention attendees, speakers, exhibitors, students, suppliers, service providers, press representatives, convention attendees' companions and the thousands of people who will gather around the Convention," they said.

The Secretary of Economic Development and Promotion of Guerrero, Teodora Ramírez Vega, representing Governor Salgado Pineda, announced that mining activity in Guerrero represents one of the most dynamic sectors of the state economy, as it generates more than four thousand direct jobs and more than 17 thousand indirect jobs. “In exports, in attracting national and foreign investment, in the incorporation of local suppliers, it is an important value chain,” she added.

In this regard, the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Simón Quiñones, highlighted that the state government is working tirelessly to reactivate the economic, tourist and social life of Acapulco. In this recovery, the port already has 11,500 rooms available and next winter 15 thousand will be available.

For his part, the General Director of Mundo Imperial, Seyed Rezvani, said that more than 120 million pesos have been invested in the reactivation of just three hotels.

He thanked the AIMMGM for its support during Hurricane Otis, which seriously affected the activities of hotels in the area and the collaborators in those places. “They provided us with food supplies, water and other supplies that were extremely necessary in the tragedy,” he added.
