Acciona selected to produce studies for São Paulo subway line PPP
São Paulo state authorized Spain's Acciona Construcción to produce technical, legal and economic-financial feasibility studies for a planned PPP for the construction and operation of the new subway line No. 16.
The state government will invest 42.3mn reais (US$7mn) in the studies.
"The line 16-violet project, qualified under the state of São Paulo's investment partnerships program (PPI-SP), will include the construction, maintenance and operation of the new metro branch. In total, the new metro line will be 32km long and will feature 25 stations, connecting the Oscar Freire station in the west zone to the Cidade Tiradentes station in the east zone," the state government said in a release.
Estimated investment in the project is 38.4bn reais (US$6.3bn). The 30-year concession will comprise eight years of construction and 22 years of operations. The line is expected to serve 226.8mn passengers per year, according to the PPI-SP.
The state government did not unveil a timetable to publish the notice and to hold the auction for the contract.
