PRESS RELEASE from Acenor
April 2025

The electricity sector is constantly evolving, and this year more than 3,000 regulated customers could opt to become independent customers, many of whom lack the information and tools necessary to make informed decisions.

In response to this need, the Association of Non-Regulated Electricity Customers (ACENOR) has decided to promote a training program aimed at strengthening the knowledge of electricity customers in Chile.

These training sessions are aimed at anyone interested in learning more about electricity users, especially those considering switching from regulated to unregulated customers and who have connected power between 300 and 500 kW.

The first training will address what it means to be a non-regulated electricity customer. Key topics covered include: who can be non-regulated customers and how; the relationship with the supplier and distributor; rights and responsibilities; and what to consider when signing up as a non-regulated customer.

The first course will be held on May 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in a hybrid format. More information at: https://acenor.cl/capacitaciones_acenor/

It is worth remembering that a few months ago, a resolution was published allowing electricity customers, who until now had been regulated, to opt for the free pricing regime.

Until the latest decree was published, only electricity customers with connected power between 500 kW and 5,000 kW could choose between being free and regulated customers. Now, customers with connected power of 300 kW or more will be able to change their system.

It is important to note that the capacities of different connection points cannot be aggregated or combined into the distribution grid to achieve a maximum of 300 kW. Chilean regulations do not yet provide for a demand aggregator with these characteristics.
