Through resolution No. 1204 of Enacom, the project presented by SALTIC was approved, to provide telephone, internet and/or cable television services in a first stage, to 22 poor neighborhoods of the province.
The Minister of Government, Human Rights and Labor, and president of SALTIC SE, Ricardo Villada explained that "Saltic was created by the provincial government to do, in terms of connectivity, what private companies are not going to do."
“It is basically carrying out certain infrastructure works that do not allow a recovery of investment by private companies. In this sense, Saltic negotiated with Enacom a disbursement of approximately 350 million pesos for fiber optic laying works in popular neighborhoods”, explained the official.
In addition, he said that "being able to take one more step to establish connectivity in places where the service has not yet reached is to generate opportunities in a concrete and real way." Lastly, he stated that “we are going to carry out the infrastructure works, then the best way to provide the services, telephone, internet and/or cable television, through local providers or companies that already exist, will be analyzed. trying to generate a social or differential tariff”.
According to the project presented by Saltic, the popular neighborhoods that will have the service are: in the capital of Salta: Divino Niño, Universitario, Las Colinas, Arturo Torino, Fraternidad, Gauchito Gil, Virgen de Urkupiña, Finca San Francisco, San Justo, Sanitation II; from the San Martín department: Railway, Luján, Cuña Muerta community, Zanja Honda, Nueva Esperanza community, Evita, El Paraíso, March 28; from the department of Orán: Franzini, Justo Juez; and from the department of Anta: Gauchito Gil and Geréz extension.
According to the Enacom resolution, the funds will allow the implementation of projects for the installation and/or development and/or improvement of infrastructure networks for the provision of fixed broadband Internet access service to the inhabitants of neighborhoods and settlements registered in the Registry National of Popular Neighborhoods in Urban Integration Process (RENABAP).
