Actis-backed Peru solar project secures transmission concession
Peru’s energy and mines ministry granted Orygen Perú the definitive concession for the power transmission component of the 94.2MW CERW Wayra Solar project.
The dispatch infrastructure consists of the 220kV Flamenco-Poroma second transmission line circuit and expansion of the Flamenco and Poroma substations in Ica region. Orygen submitted the concession request in July.
The ministry’s power director is now authorized to sign the concession contract with Orygen, formerly known as Enel Generación Perú and now controlled by investment group Actis.
Orygen operates solar parks Rubí (145MW) and Clemesi (115MW), which are the country’s largest photovoltaic plants.
The power producer’s overall installed capacity reaches 2.25GW, of which 39% is thermal, 35% hydro, 14% wind and 11.5% solar.
In November, Orygen was the third largest generator, accounting for 14.6% of the 5,042GWh produced in the month, after Kallpa and Engie.
