Chilean air and maritime logistics and transport services company Agencias Universales (Agunsa) posted a 2.45bn-peso (US$4.2mn) consolidated net profit in the first quarter of this year, up 116% from 1Q04. Revenue grew 12% to 27.4bn pesos and operating profit rose 21.6% to 3.12bn pesos, Agunsa said in a filing to Chile's securities regulator (SVS). Last year, Agunsa posted a 7.1bn-peso consolidated net profit, up 21.7% from 2003. Empresas Navieras and Sudamericana Agencias Aéreas y Marítimas (SAAM) control 69.8% and 24.7% of Agunsa respectively. Agunsa's activities include stakes in the concessionaires operating Chilean capital Santiago's Arturo Merino Benitez and Jamaica's Sangster international airports and the operation of a passenger terminal at Chile's Region V Valparaíso port. It is also part of Consorcio Portuario Arica that last year picked up a 20-year operating concession for northern Chile's Region I port Arica.
