The Benito Juárez International Airport of Mexico City , managed by the Secretariat of the Navy , invites students of architecture, architects, interior designers, urban planners, offices, workshops and associations of architects to the competition for the Architectural Conceptualization of the AICM.
The objective of this competition is to renew the corporate image of the country's main airport, to consolidate it as a modern, efficient and sustainable airport, with a focus on user satisfaction. The aim is to renovate the façades, outpatient clinics, waiting rooms and baggage claim and immigration areas of the two terminals, integrating natural elements such as plants and water with its architectural structure and a new range of colours in its finishes.
Registration for participants will take place from 21 to 27 October; the deadline for submission of proposals will be 15 November. The jury will evaluate the proposal from 16 to 22 November, and the winning proposal will be announced on 23 November.
Participants may participate individually or in teams, and only one proposal will be accepted per registration. All participants will receive digital recognition and a monetary grant will be awarded to the winning proposal, in addition to recognition from AICM and the placement of a plaque with the authors' names.
The jury will be made up of public servants from the Navy, the Mexico City Airport Group, the Mexico City International Airport, as well as the College of Architects of Mexico City. The result will be final and will be announced through the AICM's institutional media and its social media accounts.
The call for applications will be available on the website www.aicm.com.mx , where the requirements for registration of participants and proposals are detailed, as well as the terms of reference for this competition.
The winning architectural concept will subsequently be implemented in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legal framework for public works and related services.
