São Paulo, July 15, 2024 – All urban areas of the 87 municipalities located in the concession region of Algar Telecom, the IT and telecommunications company of the Algar group, already have a 4G signal. To this end, the company invested around R$120 million in the cellular network in the last two years, expanded active sites by 207 and modernized mobile access in 69 cities. The objective, highlights Márcio de Jesus, Vice President of Retail at Algar Telecom, is to provide increasingly robust technologies and continually improve the customer experience.

In some locations, data traffic practically tripled, demonstrating the volume of 4G demand. Compared to 3G, whose download rate varies between 2 and 3 Mbps, 4G offers speeds between 20 and 40 Mbps, providing a significantly superior browsing experience, especially for streaming videos and other activities that require a greater volume of data.

"For many of these cities, this is the first time that the population has access to this technology, which represents a big step in the democratization of access to high-speed internet. 4G is fundamental because a large portion of our customers still use this network, due to the technology embedded in its mobile devices", explains the company's Vice President of Retail.

Algar Telecom is also in the process of implementing voice over 4G (VoLTE), a technology that considerably improves call quality, with reduced connection times and clearer, crisper voice perception.

In addition to expanding 4G coverage, the company also reached 50% of the population in its coverage area with the 5G network. The milestone reflects Algar Telecom's continued commitment to offering the most advanced communications technology, highlights Márcio de Jesus.

Algar Telecom has more than 30 years of experience in mobile telephony and a history of pioneering. The company has always sought to offer access to innovative and modern telecommunications services in the areas where it operates. Now, the population in the interior of Brazil will have even more connectivity and opportunities, whether for leisure or business applications.
