Alternatives are analyzed to improve the hydrological situation of the country
This Ministry of Energy and Mines release was published using machine translation.
The Mazar reservoir increased approximately one meter compared to the conditions of yesterday, April 24, which has allowed the reduction of power outages in the early hours of today, as announced by the Minister of Energy and Mines (e), Roberto Luque, during the fourth press conference with the media, which took place at the Alluriquín power house belonging to the Toachi Pilatón hydroelectric project, located in the provinces of Pichincha, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and Cotopaxi.
At the press conference, the head of this State portfolio indicated that the hydrological conditions in Paute and Mazar contribute to the reservoir continuing to fill, which leads to decreases in electrical suspensions throughout the national territory. In this sense, Minister (e) Luque pointed out, for example, that the Quito Electric Company will reduce service cuts from 6 to 4 hours.
“We analyze all technical alternatives to implement changes in the schedules of energy outages. We seek to ensure that the decisions do not substantially harm Ecuadorian families,” stated the Minister of Energy and Mines, (e) Roberto Luque.
The presence of prolonged rainfall leads to an increase in flow levels, however, the energy emergency persists, which is why immediate action mechanisms are implemented such as the prioritization of economic resources for the installation of 37 generation units in Quevedo and Santo Domingo. As well as, the implementation of co-responsibility campaigns that involve the private sector and citizens.
Professionals from the Ministry, together with technicians from the country's electricity companies, daily monitor the hydrological situation of the rivers that supply the main generation plants. In addition, they execute timely actions for the correct management of the reservoirs.
The National Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines, works in a committed and permanent manner in actions aimed at overcoming the energy crisis so that Ecuadorians have a continuous and quality service as it is their right.
